Language Arts Quest Program
"Making greater strides in Language Arts"
The LA (Language Arts) Quest program was created in 2001 to motivate and inspire ELD (English Language Development) students as they continue their ongoing process to improve and strengthen their English language skills. The program has since been expanded to include both ELD and mainstream students!
The LA Quest Program is a year-long, optional program that typically begins at the start of the academic school year; however, students who enroll at SLK after the beginning of the school year may start the program at any time.
At no extra cost to current students, this program has shown to add a fun and competitive dimension to student learning; improve reading and writing skills, as well as vocabulary development; and, simultaneously raise self-confidence and STAR test scores, among other things. Students can often incorporate their own schoolwork into the program, and, with their SLK teachers, develop creative ways to customize the requirements to suit their academic needs and style of learning. Students who choose to take on this challenge can select one of the possible achievement levels: Certificate, Medallion, and Trophy.
Each level requires students to complete skill elements in each of the four areas of Language Arts:
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
