SLK is equipped with a highly qualified and experienced staff of teachers amassing decades of experience in the fields of instruction and education.

Our Methodology
Our program utilizes effective research-based strategies to develop foundational skills of English/Language Arts: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Our lessons integrate ESL (English as a second language) instruction with standards-based instruction. Our instructors use specifically designed ESL materials along with the core subject matter content materials expected of all students.
Students are grouped according to language acquisition level and/or grade level depending on each student's individual needs. Student programs are individually tailored to the student's specific language and academic requirements.
Skill Building Group Lessons
Our lessons are designed for your ELD (English Language Development) student who needs to increase his or her skills in all aspects of the English language, while building academic skills. The goal of our class is to raise the level of your child's competency in English, so s/he can function and thrive in the American education system, while easing the transition for entering into American schools.
Reading and Vocabulary Skills
Our comprehensive reading program offers a language-rich, literacy-rich environment that exposes students to the higher-order skills expected of California State Standards. Students receive comprehensive reading instruction that builds on oral language skills and addresses decoding and phonetic skills, vocabulary, and comprehension.
