ESL Classes for Pre-K & Kindergarten

Learn & Play Group ESL Classes

Learn and Play Group is a kindergarten readiness and language development class that prepares young ESL (English as a Second Language) or ELD (English Language Development) students, ages 3-6, for Kindergarten life in American schools. The small group setting allows children to build the independence and confidence needed to succeed socially and academically in American schools.

We offer two levels: Beginning & Advanced

How will my child benefit from this group?

Your child will gain what we call Kindergarten readiness, which involves certain preacademic skills such as word recognition, interest in reading, and counting to 10. In addition, your child will gain emotional skills such as sharing, getting along in a group setting, sitting still for longer periods of time, and focusing when an adult is speaking.

What skills will my child learn in the Learn & Play Group?

Skills that we focus on this group include self-care and motor skills, peer interaction and self-regulation, social expression of needs and desires, and kindergarten-level academic skills that will prepare each child for school.

What kinds of activities will my child participate in?

Activities range from sing-alongs to increase rhyme awareness and memorization, hands-on puzzles to foster the ability to work in groups and cooperation, and alphabet games to teach phonemic understanding.
