High School Power Writing Program
“Writing is a powerful instrument of thinking because it provides students with a way of gaining control over their thoughts”
Helping students become competent and compelling writers is the goal of this class. During the writing process, students learn:
- How to make grammatical choices (e.g. Verb tense, subject-verb agreement)
- Conventional choices (e.g. Comma splices, sentence fragments, misused words)
- Stylistic choices (e.g. parallel structure, active and passive voice)
In addition, they learn varied methods of paragraph development while applying punctuation and mechanical conventions.
