High School Power Writing Program
“Writing is a powerful instrument of thinking because it provides students with a way of gaining control over their thoughts”
Helping students become competent and compelling writers is the goal of this class. Students learn how to make grammatical choices (e.g. Verb tense, subject-verb agreement), conventional choices (e.g. Comma splices, sentence fragments, misused words) and stylistic choices (e.g. parallel structure, active and passive voice) during the writing process. In addition, they learn varied methods of paragraph development while applying punctuation and mechanical conventions
